Aquatic plant management through the use of a chemical herbicide/algaecide application is the most versatile and common management method for effective control of nuisance aquatic vegetation and algae growth. Excess aquatic vegetation and algae growth are considered to have a negative effect on water quality. Improving water quality by controlling or reduction of aquatic vegetation and algae will restore the environmental balance to the aquatic eco-system of a body of water.

MasterAquatics provides specialized herbicide/algaecide treatment programs
and plant management services for ponds, lakes, canals and wetland areas.
Chemical Treatment Programs
To better understand and identify your specific site requirements a survey is commonly completed to provide a detailed overview of the vegetation and algae present.  MasterAquatics will then provide a detailed estimate of any prescribed treatments that may be required. We utilize specialized spray application equipment with ATV’s, smaller boats and outboards and pick-up trucks to complete most of our treatments. Our staff consists of qualified commercial applicators, that are company trained, safe, fully insured and knowledgeable professional prepared to work with our customers to meet their aquatic needs. Our staff of dedicated professionals are available year round to provide site surveys, consultations, presentations and detailed estimates for our customers.
Chemmical Treatment
Chemical Treatment
Through a series of spray application programs, aquatic weeds and algae can be reduced or controlled. Restoring your aquatic environment to a more asthetically pleasing, healthier and more accessible body of water.
Longer lasting Back to Top
Herbicide/algaecide control will last longer and be more effective than mechanical and manual forms of control such as harvesting or hand raking. In some cases season long control can be achieved by just one application. In most cases mechanical or manual harvesting will only provide short term reduction to your aquatic problems. In some situations the spread of aquatic plants can increase after harvesting due to fragmentation and re-growth of the disturbed aquatic plants.  Long term costs with the use of aquatic pesticides and their frequency of usage are generally considered to be less than either mechanical or manual forms of treatment.
Flexibility Back to Top
Areas deemed otherwise inaccessible by other methods can be treated. With the range of aquatic products available, we can provide the flexibility to spot treat and control within a particular targeted area, selectively controlling a species in an entire body of water or provide non-selective control when it is required. In many cases undesirable exotic weeds can selectively be eliminated, while leaving beneficial native plants unharmed to establish.

Safe Back to Top
All aquatic herbicides and algaecides that are utilized by MasterAquatics have been registered by the EPA. Each aquatic pesticide must go through a registration process being tested under a variety of both short and long term environmental and laboratory conditions before ever being released for public use. Only products that have demonstrated a wide margin of safety to humans, fish, wildlife and the environment are ever used in any of our aquatic management programs. Aquatic ingredients are non-persistent in the water. They will commonly degrade and become de-activated within a short period of time after controlling plants and algae growth. Since both herbicide and algaecides are non-persistent no build-up will occur within the fish food chain. Any water use restrictions that may be required are always clearly posted on site at the shoreline with defined water usage signs.
Economical Back to Top
Less labor costs and equipment are required in the chemical application process.  Long term cost reduction through the use of chemical treatments is considered to be much more effective and thus more economical then other more conventional methods of control. There is a wide variety of herbicides and algaecides available to the commercial applicator for the reduction and control of most all nuisance vegetation and algae species. Support from manufacturers, universities and government agencies help to maintain the highest standard of quality and safety providing us with a proven economical solution for the use of herbicides and algaecides in the aquatic environment.
