Bacteria and enzyme products provide an alternative and environmentally safe method of efficiently degrading organic waste and nutrients. Bacteria additives work by the consumption and reduction of high levels of nutrients including Phosphorous and Nitrogen, which are the common food source that help to produce algae and other aquatic vegetation growth. Bacterial products will also help in the reduction of organic type sediments or sludge that can accumulate in any body of water over time. These organics could include leaf and grass debris, dead algae and aquatic plant materials, waste from other animals including waterfowl and fish. Other benefits are the improvement of water clarity, reduction of sulfate and methane gas odors and the increase in both the aerobic and anaerobic digestion process. Bacterial products are considered to be very safe, they are easy to apply, bio-degradable, non-toxic and non corrosive. 

Proper watershed management around any body of water is essential in the protection of that aquatic environment. Reduction when ever possible of the input of unwanted organic materials will help to limit the loading of nutrients into a pond or lake.

It should be noted that aeration is fundamental to most biological water treatment programs. Diffused aeration ensures a supply of oxygen is incorporated throughout the entire water column to promote good biological activity. A proper designed and sized diffused aeration system will maintain higher dissolved oxygen level, promote complete  de-stratification of the water column, elimination of anaerobic gas build-up and help to stimulate bacteria growth,  resulting in a more balanced aquatic ecosystem.
